Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Judy Chin began studying the piano at the age of four with Robert Scholz, Austrian pianist and composer.

Admitted exceptionally early, at the age of 14, to Kurt Neumüller's class at the Mozarteum University, Salzburg, Austria, she obtained the concert performer diploma "with distinction", the diploma in pedagogy and the Doctorate in musicology "Magister Artium". Then she obtained the "Meisterklassendiplom" at the Hochschule in Munich, Germany in the class of Alfons Kontarsky.

She then perfected her skills with Tatjana Nikolaeva, Leon Fleisher, Alexis Weissenberg and in London with Maria Curcio, a disciple of Arthur Schnabel, himself a Leschetizky graduate.

After winning the Bösendorfer Wien Prize, Judy Chin became a laureate of several international competitions: Kurt Leimer, Austria, Viotti-Valsesia and V. Bellini, Italy.

Judy Chin performs in many concerts in Europe, the United States and Asia: As soloist with Mozarteum Orchester, Musica Viva, Internationalen Akademieorchester, Orchester Philharmonique de Radio-France, Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.

As part of performances in contemporary music with Ensemble Court-Circuit, Ensemble Fa, Atelier Musique Ville d'Avray In chamber music with Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Dong Suk Kang, Helmut Weiss (Wiener Philharmoniker), Emma Johnson, Pierre Thibaud, Philippe Muller.

In 1999, Jean-Louis Petit dedicated “Eclipse” to her for solo piano, which she premiered in Vienna (Austria) and in France. She has recorded among others "Theo Charlier" with P. Thibaud; “Pre-Romantic Europe” Beethoven, Schubert, Reicha; “Saint Petersburg, the last romantics”.

She has taught at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Hochschule in Köln, Shih-Chien University Taipei, Taiwan University of Arts, Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Since 1992 she has been a full professor at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris / CRR.

Judy Chin is frequently invited to the juries of international competitions, Chopin-Budapest, Chopin-Taipei, FLAME-Paris, Klavierpodium-Munich, Piano Duo-Wuppertal, Meknes-Morocco. She regularly performs Masterclasses in prestigious festivals: Talent Music Summer academy & festival - Brescia (Italy), Euro Arts Academy in Leipzig (Germany), Musicalp – Tignes, OPUS 74- Flaine, Nice Summer Academy, Nancy, Académie of the peaks of Val d'Isère.
